President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has secured the presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections following an overwhelming victory in the party’s nationwide direct primary election.

The exercise, conducted across the country’s 8,809 electoral wards, saw President Tinubu defeat his sole opponent, Stanley Osifo, by a wide margin.

The final collation of results was held at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja amid the presence of APC governors, senior party officials, delegates, and supporters who gathered to witness the announcement.

At the conclusion of the nationwide collation, Tinubu recorded an impressive 10.99 million votes, while Osifo garnered 16,504 votes.

Results from the various states were formally submitted by governors, state coordinators, and party collation officers to the APC Presidential Primary Election Committee headed by former Senate President, Pius Anyim.

Addressing party faithful during the exercise, APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, described the outcome as a strong demonstration of unity, stability, and confidence within the ruling party as preparations intensify for the 2027 polls.

Several governors and key stakeholders within the APC also hailed the result as a renewed endorsement of President Tinubu’s leadership and ongoing reform agenda.

In his acceptance speech, President Tinubu said his emergence as the party’s flag bearer represents another significant chapter in Nigeria’s democratic evolution. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to deepening reforms and accelerating national development.

The president highlighted major achievements recorded under his administration, particularly in the areas of education, infrastructure, power, and economic transformation. He referenced initiatives such as the student loan programme, improvements in electricity generation, and the removal of fuel subsidy as part of efforts aimed at repositioning the nation’s economy.

Tinubu also acknowledged the prevailing economic and security challenges confronting the country, assuring Nigerians that his government remains committed to strengthening national security, economic stability, and unity.

He further appealed to citizens to continue supporting his administration’s vision of building a safer, more united, and prosperous Nigeria as the country moves closer to the 2027 general elections.
